I am often asked from spiritually minded people, what is my purpose?
I think a lot of spiritually minded people think they should be more like a super natural being, my reply to this is, “Maybe just by being present within the present is all that is needed”. It is not within if we think or not but within how we think. So being spiritual means we think less when in fact it is within how we think. So we think because we feel consciously that we are super natural, that we should be super natural on a physical level, as well.
Because I am also into philosophy I think too much to be spiritual to a lot of spiritually minded people, when philosophy teaches you to think more clearly and precisely. Being precise is within the same ability as focusing, like focusing on your breathing when meditating. In the case with philosophy, you focus on what is distorting therefore corrupting yourself and society to dispel or neutralise such distortions and corruptions. What do we do when meditating? Neutralise what is hindering our minds expansion beyond what we know to be reality.
Socrates and Plato, two well known ancient Greek philosophers, focused on what was distorting Greek consciousness therefore society, knowing that anything distorted will naturally create corruption in line with the degree of distortion. The more distortion, the more corruption as we are clearly seeing today in human society, especially in Western society.
I was doing my usual squats on a cruise ship recently when an Eastern crew member approached me, they could not believe that a western person was doing the squats in the right way. We talked on and spoke how Westerners have distorted Eastern teaching to suite their own thinking process, in the process distorting Eastern teachings that worked into something else. This is the problem we have today in Western society that is no longer influenced by philosophy, our thinking process has been corrupted to a serious level, where we think it is alright to butcher people out of existence as in Palestine. The greater Israel is built upon outright butchery. Any kind of butchery is a sure sign of a great deal of distortion therefore corruption.
I spoke to a Jewish person who lives in Iran on a tram recently, a true Semite Jew, what is going on in Iran at the hands of Westerners and Zionists is again outright butchery of civilians. He was reluctant to speak of this due to Western retaliation. To a person with philosophical views and spiritual virtues, butchery is a sure sign of a great deal of distortion therefore corruption, my own philosophical views and spiritual virtues clearly shows me this.
So do people like me expect to express super natural abilities, or simply just think more benign than malign? To be able to think in a malign way, one must have a distorted consciousness, therefore a corrupt consciousness, however, to be able to think in a more benign way, one must have a consciousness built upon clarity therefore morality.
If you are thinking in a more benign way, you are making a difference, that is all we need to do.
